Woke up this morning with sadness surrounding my heart.
“Ya Allah...kita ada beberapa hari je lagi sebelum Syawal datang”
(Dear Allah, we only have few more days before the coming of Syawal.)
What should I do? What should we do?
Thinking about the situation again, I was questioning myself of the right ways to react in saying my goodbyes to Ramadhan, while welcoming Syawal. Ramadhan the month of barakah will certaintly be missed, HOWEVER Syawal should NOT be welcomed with despair.
The question is : How am I supposed to respond to this situation? Should I be happy about it? Or should I be sad?
Ramadhan is leaving. Syawal is approaching.
......
Alhamdulillah. Managed to perform the Subuh prayer together with the jamaah of TUI at the surau. Then we had our weekly Kuliah Subuh by a well known Ustaz in town.
One of the issues raised in the Kuliah was the question that I had this morning.
Question: What will happen when Ramadhan leaves? Will we be back to old habits or will we be continuing the journey that we've set in Ramadhan- to be a better Muslim?
After a long discussion, then came to the point where my question was answered =)
The Ustaz brought a quote delivered by Yusuf Al-Qardawi during his Eidul Fitr sermon in 2008 (or perhaps 2009) , but I am more interested to relate it with the sayings of Abu Bakar r.a to Umar r.a and the people when they received the news of the death of our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
Abu Bakar r.a said, “ And now,to he who worships Muhammad s.a.w, (he should know that) Muhammad s.a.w is dead. But he who worships Allah, He is Ever Living and He never dies”. Taken from Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum.
Allah is ever living and He never dies (Fa Innallahha Hayyun La Yamoot ).
Hmm... think again.
Are we to serve Ramadhan or are we to serve Allah?
If we were to serve Ramadhan, then we should know that Ramadhan come and go with Allah’s will. But if we were to serve Allah...Fa Innallahha Hayyun La Yamoot.
Thus, say our farewell to Ramadhan and welcome Syawal as we should be.
Most importantly, assure ourselves that Ramadhan leaves us with changes in life because Ramadhan is like a school. There is no point of attending when nothing is gained.
InshaAllah. We still have the remaining days to work hard together. Hope to graduate from school of Ramadhan with full flying colours this year =)

Both of the months are nikmah from Allah. There should be a balance on ways to say our goodbyes as well as celebrating the new month- Syawal.
